The Cheapest Gas in Town

Finally some releief at the pump and just in time for Memorial Day weekend, one of the largest travel holidays of the year.  The good news is that over the last week the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded has fallen from $4.04 to $3.87.

The bad news? Fueling up costs just over a dollar more than it did both six months ($2.84 per gallon) and one year ago ($2.78 per gallon), according to the latest survey by AAA.

The average cost to fill a vehicle with a 15-gallon tank has dropped about two dollars from $60.64 last week to $58.15, still considerably higher than the $42.72 you might have paid just six months ago.

The lowest price for a gallon of regular unleaded in the area is $3.85.
