Area gas prices continued to decline, falling about 3 cents per gallon for regular unleaded over the course of the week, according to the latest survey by AAA. 

The area average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is now $3.281, compared to $3.307 last week.

The lowest price for a gallon of regular unleaded in the area is $3.239—about a nickel below the average.

Six months ago, you would have paid more to fuel up, at an average cost of $3.73 per gallon of regular unleaded; last year you might have paid just $2.74.
