Three Local Teachers to be Honored for Excellence in Phys Ed

A Maryland health, dance, and physical education group will honor three area instructors on Friday.

At an awards banquet Friday evening, the Maryland Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance will honor a total of six Baltimore County public school teachers—three of whom teach at schools in the Parkville-Carney area.

Darra Davis, a physical education teacher at ; Charles Willenborg, a physical education teacher at , and Deborah Thomas, a physical education teacher at will each receive the Simon McNeely award for 2011-2012.

The award, given in honor of a former executive director of the Society of State Leaders of Health and Physical Education, recognizes educators for outstanding and innovative teaching and service.
