Shy Tree, is a licensed and insured Tree Service Company founded in 2017 with the mission to practice Arboriculture in a commercial setting while prioritizing plant health care. Over the years, we have developed a strong reputation for our reliable and efficient service, ensuring that every tree we work with receives the best care possible. In addition to over 1000 residential clients, Shy Tree has earned several commercial contracts, including extensive projects at the French Embassy in Washington D.C., a service contract with the City of Bowie, MD, and the state of Maryland’s Department of Transportation. Our projects often include tree planting, pruning, and maintenance, as well as emergency response following storms and natural disasters, showcasing our versatility and commitment to client satisfaction. ​ Alex Shy, owner and operator of Shy Tree, is an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist, MD Licensed Tree Expert, and is a qualified Tree Risk Assessor. Alex graduated with honors from West Virginia University with his B.S. in Natural Resource Management, which equips him with an in-depth understanding of sustainable practices. He actively teaches the MAC-ISA’s Arborist Certification Course, sharing his extensive knowledge with aspiring arborists in the community. Alex also owns and operates an arboricultural safety and training company, the Arborist Development Group, where he focuses on enhancing safety protocols and fostering professional development among industry workers. His role as a Board Certified Master Arborist truly sets him apart in the field.
