1 Killed, 5 Injured In White Marsh Crash: Police

One driver died after a crash on Silver Spring Road at Honegyo Boulevard Friday afternoon, Baltimore County police reported.

WHITE MARSH, MD — One person died as the result of a crash on Honeygo Boulevard at Silver Spring Road Friday afternoon in White Marsh, police said. Three vehicles were involved in the collision, which sent six people to area hospitals, officials reported Friday evening.

James Minsurk Kim, 72, of the 9200 block of Peach Blossom Avenue in Perry Hall, was pronounced deceased, police said.

Kim had been driving a 2001 Lexus ES 300 south on Honeygo Boulevard after 2 p.m. on Friday when police said his car hit a 2010 Jeep Commander with a family of four inside near Silver Spring Road.

The Jeep, which had been headed west on Silver Spring Road, was forced into oncoming traffic, hitting a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox that was traveling east on Silver Spring Road, police reported.

Two people were trapped as a result of the crash, which required four emergency medical response vehicles to handle the incident, according to the White Marsh Volunteer Company.

Police said that six people were taken to local hospitals after the crash. One person, the driver of the Chevrolet Equinox, was not injured.

Kim and his Lexus passenger were taken to a local hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries, according to police, who said Kim died after 3 p.m. on Friday.

The four people inside the Jeep Commander were taken to area hospitals with serious injuries that were not believed to be life threatening, officials reported.

Police said Friday evening that the investigation into the crash was ongoing.
