108,000 Baltimore County Students Lose Long Weekend
Winter weather cut into time off for Baltimore County Public Schools.
"If you’re a BCPS parent or student looking at using Monday, March 31, to put together a long weekend, think again," according a statement Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) issued Wednesday.
March 31 was originally slated to be a professional development day for teachers and a day off for students, but that's no longer the case, the school system said.
The school system used eight days—more than the seven for which it had allotted—due to inclement weather and needed to make up the day, according to officials.

The Board of Education of Baltimore County voted at its meeting Tuesday night to make March 31 a regular school day, the statement said.
The 108,000 Baltimore County public school students will attend classes as usual on March 31 to meet state standards that call for 180 days of instruction.
