PERRY HALL, MD — With Perry Hall School officially landmarked, officials are turning their attention to the next steps for the historic building.
An informational community meeting is scheduled for May 9 at the landmark to inform residents about the efforts that will be undertaken to transform the building into an adult medical daycare facility.
The meeting will take place at 9317 Belair Road between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Councilman David Marks is listed as a special guest for the event.
The building operated from 1925 to 1956 as a school before it went on to serve as the Perry Hall Annex to address school overcrowding. It was later used as a community center.
Under the ownership of the Krause family, who are longtime Perry Hall residents, the building underwent extensive renovations.
However, it wasn't until last year that the structure officially became the county's 400th protected landmark.
The milestone came about after more than a year of negotiations and hearings that involved Marks, the Kraus family, the Preservation Alliance of Baltimore County and the Perry Hall Improvement Association.
