Baltimore Co. Man Facing Charges For Illegally Possessing Monkeys: Report

An Essex man is facing several charges, including animal cruelty offenses, for illegally possessing infant monkeys.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Jayden Quanez Evans, a 25-year-old man from Essex, was released on his own recognizance Monday after being accused of illegally possessing monkeys.

Evans came under the radar of the Baltimore County Police Department in June, after he was photographed posing with a spider monkey and lemur on Facebook, WMAR2 News reported.

Charging documents reviewed by the outlet indicate Evans and Baltimore photographer Vernon Edward Crowfey III "rented" the monkeys from a Florida dealer with the understanding that they were obtaining a license for "scientific, educational or commercial purposes."
