Barricade, Fire in Perry Hall Under Investigation: Police

Police said the arson team was investigating circumstances around barricade and fire that resulted in Perry Hall High School lockdown.

PERRY HALL, MD — A barricade situation that involved a fire is under investigation in Perry Hall, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

A suicidal subject was taken into custody after a fire on Cottington at Silver Spring Road, police said at approximately 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 10.

The arson team was investigating the cause and origin of the blaze, according to Officer Jen Peach, spokeswoman for the Baltimore County Police Department.

"...it is still under investigation as to whether the suicidal subject intentionally set a fire, if someone else set it, or if it was coincidentally accidental," Peach told Patch.

The call for a suicidal person came in before 9:30 a.m. in the unit block of Bartley Court, according to ABC 2 News, which reported the fire call was reported around 10 a.m.

During the police and fire department response in the area, Perry Hall High School was placed on lockdown as a matter of standard procedure, Peach said.

It was not immediately available whether the suicidal woman was taken for an emergency evaluation, according to police.
