Barricaded Man Linked To Bank Robberies In Baltimore County: Report

An armed robber reportedly struck a Perry Hall bank branch and a White Marsh 7-Eleven over a two-day span this week.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — A man who barricaded himself inside a Rosedale motel this week was taken into custody and reportedly linked to several business robberies in Baltimore County.

Michael Keith Swain, 29, of the 7300 block of Edsworth Road in Dundalk, was arrested Thursday and was being held without bail, court records show.

A warrant had been issued for his arrest Feb. 17 charging him in two armed robberies: one on Feb. 13 in which less than $1,000 was taken and another on Feb. 15, in which $1,000 to $10,000 was taken.

He was also later charged with two counts of armed robbery — one on Feb. 21 and another on Feb. 22 — and two counts of using a firearm in the commission of a felony crime, according to court records.

When police tried to serve the warrant on Swain Thursday at the Deluxe Plaza Motel in the 6400 block of Pulaski Highway, he reportedly barricaded himself inside for several hours.

After Swain was in custody, the FBI told ABC 2 News that he was connected to four robberies:

  • Feb. 22—PNC in the 4200 block of Chapel Road in Perry Hall
  • Feb. 21—7-Eleven in the 11600 block of Philadelphia Road in White Marsh
  • Feb. 15—Wells Fargo in the 2000 block of East Joppa Road in Parkville
  • Feb. 13—PNC in the Giant grocery store in the 2100 block of York Road in Lutherville

Thebarricade along Pulaski Highway was an hours-long process, according to WJZ, which reported it impacted traffic.
