Boy Shot Through Wall, 2 Charged: Police

A couple is charged with assault and weapons violations after a 6-year-old was shot, police said.

ROSEDALE, MD - Two people have been charged in connection with the shooting of a child in Rosedale, police say. The 6-year-old boy was sleeping when he was shot through the wall around 7 a.m. Sunday as a woman was unloading her boyfriend’s gun in the townhouse next door, officials said.

The boy was hospitalized, and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, police reported.

Deyonna Nykeima Charles, 29, of the unit block of Capella Court, is charged with second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and discharging a firearm in a metropolitan area, police said. She was released on her own recognizance following a bail review hearing Tuesday, according to officials.

Corey Jarard Nash, 28, of the 2300 block of Jefferson Street, is charged with possessing a firearm after a felony conviction, illegal possession of a regulated firearm and illegal possession of ammunition, police said. He is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
