A Mall Icon Still Welcoming Families to White Marsh Mall

It’s been 31 years since Miss Kitty dressed up as a clown, walked into White Marsh Mall, and first started greeting shopping families with her balloons.  Since that day, she’s watched little girls grow up to be moms who now bring their own little children to the mall for a visit.

Miss Kitty (her real name is actually Kitty) can be found wearing a complete clown outfit: a bright red wig and matching nose, along with makeup and the requisite colorful outfit.  She used to make it to White Marsh Mall seven days a week, but now makes weekend appearances only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Perhaps even more noticeable than her outfit, is the huge display of balloons she’s always seen with and known for.  From Mickey and Scooby to Dolphins and Orioles, the variety is amazing and sure to appeal to boys and girls of any age! The balloons are for sale and with such a huge selection, it’s hard to decide which one to take home.

So why does she do it?  For her, there’s only one reason: the children.  She’s not an employee of White Marsh Mall but each time she meets a little boy or girl and brings a smile to their face, it’s worth every second of her time a hundreds times over.

As she’s gotten older and generations of children have grown up, she’s started to have children stop her in the mall to say they recognize her. Not because they met her in the Mall, but because those little children have seen Miss Kitty in their parent’s baby book!
