Perry Hall Track & Field tackles the Maryland State Championship
Maryland State 4A Track & Field Championship - Morgan State University
Over the last two days Perry Hall Track & Field had it's ups and downs. Best way to recap is to start at the beginning.Day 1, Friday afternoon, which was not only damp and overcast but the wind made it miserably cold. We were prepared for rain but not the cold. Traffic and parking is always difficult, especially if their parking garage is full. Where to park around the campus was not clearly marked. Unfortunately I got there halway through the Boys 4x800m Relay. Bart Allen, Ethan Burbridge, Jahi Thomas and Jose Cruz grabbed a 10th place finish. Thelma Ejimofor ran the 100m prelims , but was unable to qualify for finals. Patrick Alluisi ran against the top 4A hurdler in the 110m hurdle prelims qualifying just behind him for saturday finals. On the other side of the field Jack Britcher turned in a 9th place finish in the pole vault. Time for the 3200m run, Skylar Moore placed 10th and Chris Vitek 12th. Megan Erpenstein tripled jumped to a 14th finish. Last up Boys 4x200m relay (Richard Nwokeji, Roger Bagely, Patrick Alluisi, Brian Jaffe) came in 1st in their heat.
Day 2, Saturday morning while waiting for the Coach outside the stadium gates we heard that our Boys 4x200m team placed 4th. First up Girls high jump, Emily Lottes tied for 7th while Endasia Mitchell was unable to clear opening height. I watched with stomach churning as Patrick Alluisi turned in not only a 2nd place finish but his best time in the 110m hurdle finals. Then it was Vincent Ciattei out in front from start to finish winning the 1600m. Then there was alot of down time between the events. Back on the track Patrick Alluisi for the 300m hurdles, coming out of the final turn looking to turn on his speed the unexpected happened he tripped going over the hurdle. Up off the ground he came and charged back to finish the heat. The worst scenario, its at times like this that you wish you could turn back time, but then you over hear other spectators comment "wow did you see that he got back up and finished" that makes you swell with pride. There were many that fell in previous heats and just walked off, unlike them Patrick finished. Our athletes know when you start you finish, no matter where you may place you must finish (unless you are hurt that is).

Up for the 800m run despite being tripped up several times Michelle Krach was able to finish 16th. Then Vincent Ciattei was given his toughest run, staying just behind the leader. The athlete from Wooten must have thought he had it made but then Vince coming out of the last turn made his move and easily moved ahead to finish 1st. Endasia Mitchell turned in a 3-way tie for 4th in the pole vault.
The Girls 4x100m relay (Celina Thomas, Korie Robinson, Garbrielle Lange, Thelma Ejimofor) came in 14th and the Boys 4x100m relay (Richard Nwokeji, Nick Davis, Patrick Alluisi, Brian Jaffe) placed 9th. Both relays turned in their best times of the season.
