Brightview Perry Hall Hosts Free Educational Speaker Series with Dementia Expert
Certified Alzheimer's Association speaker leads series on the second Monday of every month at 6:00pm.
Brightview Perry Hall is hosting an Educational Speaker Series with certified Alzheimerโs Association speaker, Deborah Hanna.
The free, interactive series for families, friends and caregivers of people with memory loss is held on the second Monday of every month at the community at 6:00pm.
The next meeting in the series will be held on Monday, September 14. The topic to be covered is โUnderstanding and Respecting a Person with Dementia.โ

Topics vary month to month, but include โThe New Normal,โ โEffective Communicationโ and โManaging Difficult Behaviorsโ as well as topics of interest to attendees.
With a Bachelorโs degree in Psychology and a Masterโs degree in Therapeutic Education, Deborah also holds a graduate certification in Gerontology as well as a hospice certification in Direct Patient Care and Bereavement Training. Passionate about advocating for early stage onset dementias with the Alzheimerโs Association, Deborah speaks extensively on the topic of dementia and how to interact with individuals with any form of dementia.

More than 5 million Americans are currently living with Alzheimerโs disease, one of many forms of dementia. As the 6th leading cause of death in the United States, last year, 15.5 million caregivers provided an estimated 17.7 billion hours of unpaid care valued at more than $220 billion.
โIt is important to us to serve as a resource for older adults, families, caregivers and others in the community,โ explains Laura Stewart, Executive Director at Brightview Perry Hall.

Located 9657 Belair Road, Brightview Perry Hall offers Independent Living, Assisted Living and Wellspring Villageยฎ, Brightviewโs specialized program and environment for people living with dementia and other memory impairments. The community opened in July 2014.
