Carjacking Victim In Baltimore County Helped By Neighbors: Report

The Baltimore County man run over by teen carjacking suspects remains hospitalized. His neighbors have set up a way to help.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — The man who was carjacked and run over with his own vehicle is reportedly recovering in the hospital. Neighbors have set up a GoFundMe page to help raise money for his recovery. According to the account of the carjacking on the page, the man's neighbors helped get him medical attention.

The 69-year-old man was warming up his vehicle in the 4200 block of Cardwell Avenue on Jan. 3 when six teens jumped out of an SUV and attacked him, running him over and crushing his hips with his car, according to the GoFundMe page. One neighbor saw the man near the road and brought him a blanket; another called 911.

Four teens have been arrested in the case, three of them charged as adults, police announced on Monday, Jan. 8. One was charged with attempted murder.

The victim was being treated at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for internal bleeding, pelvic fractures and contusions, according to the GoFundMe page, which said he will likely need to be in a rehab facility for six weeks.

"It is uncertain when Jim will be able to walk again, let alone work," according to the GoFundMe page. "...he is the sole provider for their home. It is our goal to help alleviate some of the financial burden caused by this horrific incident."

The goal is to raise $5,000. As of Wednesday, Jan. 10, donations were above $2,100. More information is available on the GoFundMe page.

Detectives are still looking for two additional suspects in the violent carjacking.
