Chapel Hill, Kingsville Elementary Schools to be Air Conditioned by 2017
With the new budget, every 5th District school will be air conditioned in two years. Work continues on the new northeast elementary school.
With the new county budget, every Fifth District school will be air conditioned by 2018.
Under the budget proposed today, the last three schools-–Chapel Hill, Kingsville, and Oakleigh Elementary Schools–-would be air conditioned by the 2017 academic year. Dumbarton Middle School will be done in 2018.
When I took office, more than a dozen schools serving Fifth District students lacked air conditioning. Our office worked with dedicated PTA leaders, County Executive Kevin Kamenetz and School Superintendent Dallas Dance to make air conditioning a priority.

The budget also advances the construction of a new Honeygo area elementary school that should open in 2018, and a new elementary school for South Perry Hall funded around 2020.
