Councilman Marks to Support Open Space Zoning for Woods Near Joppa Road
The nine-acre property near Perry Woods Court, presently zoned for townhomes, would remain undeveloped.

With the conclusion of the Planning Board hearings, I will start to make my recommendations for rezoning issues in the Fifth District.
Today, I am announcing my support for downzoning the development potential of nine acres off Joppa Road in Perry Hall. This publicly-owned land behind Turnbrook and Perry Woods Courts is currently zoned DR 5.5, which would allow townhomes if ever sold for development. I am proposing that the land be zoned for open space, or Neighborhood Commons, which will keep the area free from new development.
The Joppa Road corridor is densely developed with free parks. Residents deserve the peace of mind that government will not sell this land off for development.
