Backups Stretched 6 Miles on I-95 Near White Marsh: MDTA

Interstate 95 reopens after crash at New Forge Road.

KINGSVILLE, MD – Traffic was backed up for 6 miles on Interstate 95 south Monday evening while a crash cleared from the White Marsh area, the Maryland Transportation Authority reported.

Several cars were involved in the collision, which happened when a northbound vehicle crossed the median and traveled into traffic on I-95 south, WJZ reported.

The White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company sent paramedics and an engine to I-95 south before 5 p.m., where officials said someone needed to be rescued from the crash between New Forge Road and the Big Gunpowder River.

For nearly an hour, all lanes of I-95 south were closed near MD 43/White Marsh Boulevard.

By 6:15 p.m., the highway had completely reopened, while backups remained in both directions, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority, which advised drivers to be cautious given rain andΒ slick conditions.

Transportation officials advised drivers to use Philadelphia Road or US 40 as alternate routes to avoid the multi-vehicle crash.

KINGSVILLE, MD – There are more than 5 miles of backups on Interstate 95 Monday evening after a crash requiring rescue closed the highway in one direction, according to emergency personnel.

All lanes of I-95 south were closed in the area of New Forge Road after 5 p.m., and I-95 north was becomingcongested as well, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority.

Transportation officials advised drivers to use Philadelphia Road or US 40 as alternate routes to avoid the multi-vehicle crash.

Six vehicles were involved in the collision, which happened when a northbound vehicle crossed the median and traveled into I-95 south traffic, WJZ reported.

As of 4:51 p.m., all lanes of I-95 south were closed before the exit for MD 43/White Marsh Boulevard, according to the Coordinated Highways Action Response Team (CHART).

After 5:30 p.m., officials said that I-95 south remained closed and tow trucks were working to clear the crash.
