Crash Into Starbucks: White Marsh VFC Handles 2 Crashes, Assault

A school bus assault and Starbucks crash were among the calls White Marsh first responders were dispatched to at once Friday, Sept. 27.

WHITE MARSH, MD — A vehicle drove into Starbucks near Perry Hall Friday afternoon, according to the White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company. The store was closed for the rest of the day due to the incident.

That was one of a handful of calls that the White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company's crews were responding to simultaneously before 4 p.m., officials said.

Two were crashes and one was a reported assault, according to the fire company.

"We're operating on three separate incidents right now," the fire company reported at 3:56 p.m.:
1) Vehicle crash on I-95 N between I-695 and Rt 43
2) Vehicle that drove into the Starbucks on Campbell Blvd
3) Reported assault on school bus in Perry Hall

Here's what we know about the incidents, listed in order as the fire company reported them:

1. Four vehicles were involved in the crash on Interstate 95 north, according to state transportation officials. It happened before 4 p.m. north of the exit for I-695.

White Marsh fire officials said that a second emergency medical services transport vehicle was requested between the exits for I-695 and MD 43.

Two lanes were closed during the emergency response, and the crash had cleared the area by 4:30 p.m., according to the Maryland Transportation Authority.

2. Starbucks at Nottingham Square in the 5300 block of Campbell Boulevard is closed for the rest of the day, Starbucks staff told Patch at approximately 5:45 p.m.

A vehicle drove inside the store before 4 p.m., according to the White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company.

There were no injuries, nor was there any structural damage at the Starbucks, according to the fire company, which shared this photo that appeared to show some minor damage.


3. There is no information yet on the school bus assault. Patch has reached out to Baltimore County Public Schools for comment and the White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company. None of the crew from the White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company that handled the school bus incident was at the firehouse when Patch called after 6 p.m. We will update this article if we receive any further information.

Also, as fire crews were responding to the above emergencies, the Baltimore County Police Department had its officers out on a separate incident. K-9s, the helicopter and patrols were searching around Perry Hall Boulevard for a suspected shoplifter accused of assaulting a police officer during an arrest, then running away, according to authorities.
