Dennis L. Eyre, 64; Life Member of Kingsville Volunteer Fire Company

On Sept. 7, 2016, Dennis L. Eyre passed away. Much of Dennisโ€™s life was dedicated to the fire department.

He served as the Senior Vice President of Baltimore County Volunteer Firemanโ€™s Association. His passion to the firefighter community was evident as he was a life member at Kingsville Volunteer Fire Company as well as a past, and honorary, member of Long Green Volunteer Fire Company.

Dennis served an impressive 45 years as a volunteer firefighter. In addition to holding several officer positions at both Long Green and Kingsville fire companies, Dennis also proudly served in the US Army, in country, during the Vietnam War as an air traffic controller where he held a rank of Specialist.Dennis participated in a variety of hobbies that brought him immense joy. This included jousting with his wife Cathy, letting loose on the drums, listening to music on his iPod, playing golf with this friends and son Matthew, traveling to Disney World with his family, studying the Civil War, traveling to Gettysburg, and taking care of his granddaughter (the love of his life).

Dennisโ€™s sense of humor was infectious as he was constantly ensuring those around him were sharing in his joy; whether it be with a joke or off the wall comment. Dennis is survived by his loving family for whom he was incredibly proud of; his wife Catherine, son Matthew, daughter-in-law Jen, granddaughter Madison (the light of his life), brother Ricky and his wife Sherry, brother Russell and his wife Susan, and his countless nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. He will be immensely missed, and always loved, by all.Visiting at the E.F. Lassahn Funeral Home, P.A., 11750 Belair Road (Kingsville) on Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m. Interment Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kingsville Volunteer Fire Company or Salem United Methodist Church (Upper Falls, MD).
