Kayaker Rescues Dog Trapped on Ice in Joppa, Officials Say
A citizen saved dog stranded along Gunpowder River, Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company reported.
A kayaker rescued a dog stranded on ice Tuesday morning in Joppa, according to the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company.
At 8:35 a.m., the fire company reported that its crews were in the 600 block of Towne Center Drive, where a dog was trapped nearby on the ice.
The fire company initially said that it requested the fire boat from Aberdeen Proving Ground to assist; however, authorities reported at 8:51 a.m. that a civilian had paddled out to rescue the dog in a kayak.

The dog was brought ashore and returned to his owner, uninjured, the fire company reported.
