Double Rock Park Robbery Update: Suspect Charged

Police said the suspect approached a woman who was walking her dog and demanded money, then assaulted her.

PARKVILLE, MD — A Parkville teen is accused of assaulting a woman while she was walking her dog last month in Double Rock Park.

Malik Christopher Roberts, 19, of the 3600 block of Double Rock Lane, is charged with robbery and first and second-degree assault.

Police said the charges stemmed from an altercation that occurred when a 26-year-old woman was walking her dog near Double Rock Park around 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 1. Roberts allegedly appeared behind some bamboo in the park, pet the dog, then grabbed the animal and demanded money.

The victim offered her cell phone in exchange for the dog and Roberts allegedly said he wanted money, then hit her on the head with an unknown object and left without taking anything from her, police said.

Officials said the victim was treated at an area hospital and released by Aug. 3.
