Drama Guild's 2014/15 Season Ends This Weekend

The Havre de Grace Drama Guild will close it's 2014/15 theatrical season this Friday and Saturday, but will keep rolling next year

The Havre de Grace Drama Guild produced itโ€™s first play in 2008, a musical called The Nifty Fifties. When the Guild first launched, it was solely a childrenโ€™s program, putting on one show per year. In the seven seasons since then, though, it has grown to include classes for youth of virtually all ages from Kindergarten through high school, a film program, and an adult community theater group, the Lewis Lane Players. Today it is one of the largest drama programs in the region, with its troupes combining to put on seven theatrical performances each year (some of which include multiple plays). This past yearโ€™s slate included Michael Fraynโ€™s farce Alarms & Excursions, a live radio play version of Itโ€™s a Wonderful Life and Howard Ashman and Alan Menkenโ€™s dark musical comedyLittle Shop of Horrors.

The 2014/15 theatrical season is getting ready to wind down with three performances this weekend (the Teen Troupe and Lewis Lane Players are presenting the one act playsMixed Relief and Trifles at 7:00 Friday night and 1:00 and 5:30 on Saturday), but there is no rest for the weary and the Guild shows no signs of slowing down. They have already announced their anticipated slate of shows for the 2015/16 season, including a Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning drama and a musical featuring everyoneโ€™s favorite Beagle. Most of the Guildโ€™s shows (including this weekendโ€™s performances) are staged at its home โ€œblack boxโ€ theater inside the Havre de Grace Activity Center at 351 Lewis Lane, although some of the larger productions are held in the High School auditorium.

The new season begins right around the corner on Thursday, July 30, with performances of The Lost Half Hour and Spoon River Anthology by the Guildโ€™s two groups of summer camp students. The full slate of shows for the 2015/16 season are:
