Afternoon tea and colonial crafter at Ballestone

The Summer Sundays program for June 24^th will feature afternoon tea, and a colonial locksmith crafter in addition to house tours. Afternoon tea will be available on the lower portico at Ballestone. Enjoy two homemade scones served with sweet cream and lemon curd. Perry Hall resident and blacksmith Ray Zeleny will display and discuss colonial door locks, some of which are very intricate, "those old Colonial era locks had 60 or 70 pieces to them; even the screws were all handmade," he explained. Zeleny’s work has included projects at the Baltimore Zoo, Lexington Market, Walter’s Art Gallery, Peale Museum and the  Flag House to name a few.

The Ballestone Stansbury House will be open from 2-5PM. Guides in period clothing will provide tours and interpret everyday life in the home.  The newly refurbished gift shop will be open. Constructed in 1780 the Ballestone Stansbury House, on Back River Neck Road in Essex, has been meticulously preserved and provides an excellent example of 18th and 19th century life.
