Fatal Crash On Philadelphia Road Under Investigation
Police said one person died and another was injured in a crash on Philadelphia Road at Hospital Drive.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — One driver died early Sunday morning after he crashed head-on into a truck on Philadelphia Road and another crash ensued, officials said. Three drivers were involved in the incident; one died, one was injured and another was unharmed, according to authorities.
Officials said they were called at 12:33 a.m. on Sunday to the crash on Philadelphia Road at Hospital Drive.
Alvarenga Cruz, 54, of the 1200 block of Hanson Road in Edgewood, was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to police.

Investigators said that Cruz had been driving a 2002 Honda Civic east on Philadelphia Road when he crossed the line and hit a 2013 Isuzu cargo box truck that was going west.
Afterwards, a Ford Crown Victoria that had been headed east on Philadelphia Road hit the Civic and pushed it into a parked Honda CRV, police reported.

The driver of the box truck was being treated at a local hospital for injuries that were believed to non-life-threatening, police said. The driver of the Crown Victoria was unharmed, officials reported.
The Baltimore County Police Department's crash team is investigating.
