Festival's Pie Eating, Baking Contests Still Taking Entries
The Perry Hall Apple Festival is coming to Chapel Hill's Farm & Nursery Sept. 22-23.

The community's first-ever Apple Festival is just days away, but there's still time to enter the pie eating and pie baking contests.
Planned between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both Saturday, Sept. 22 and Sunday, Sept. 23, the festival will be hosted by the Perry Hall Improvement Association and Chapel Hills Farm & Nursery at 4350 Chapel Rd.
More than 40 craft vendors and food vendors plan to participate. Contests, hayrides, children's activities and a live band are also planned. Admission is free. Children's activity tickets are $2 or 12 for $20.

Those feeling competitive, and craving apples, are encouraged to enter the pie eating and pie baking contests.
Pie eaters should sign up on the event website or call organizer 617-694-2424. Spaces are limited. First to finish a pie wins.

Pie bakers should also sign up on the event website before Sept. 21. Categories are traditional crust and crumb top, judged according to overall appearance, taste, creativity and overall impression. Pies must be dropped off by 9 a.m. Saturday to be judged at 1 p.m. The winner receives an engraved glass pie plate and ribbon.
