Friends Donate Bench to Perry Hall Library
The bench has already been used and loved, said the library manager.
Up against the wall near the library's entrance, it doesn't call much attention to itself. But its solid wood frame, still shining from its last coat of honey-colored finish, has already brought relief to dozens of library patrons in need of a comfortable place to sit and wait.
The Friends of the Perry Hall Library, a volunteer organization which promotes library services, donated the bench at their monthly meeting on Oct. 26.
"The bench was used within a half an hour of installation," said Darcy Cahill, the library manager. The response from library patrons has been extremely positive, Cahill said, especially from people who wait by the entrance for rides or to make phone calls.

She added that a customer even wrote a thank you note for the bench, which read, "Sometimes I need it badly. I'm on oxygen and I get breathless."
The bench was the suggestion of Cahill, said Friends board member Kathy Quinn, who added that the group purchased it using membership dues and donations.
