Funding for New Northeast Elementary School in County Budget Proposal
Construction would occur in 2017.

County Executive Kevin Kamenetz presented his budget proposal for the 2016 fiscal year Tuesday, and it included funding for the planning of a new elementary school for the Perry Hall area.
“I am very pleased that the County Executive listened to the concerns of parents in northeastern Baltimore County and has included money for this desperately needed new school,” Councilman David Marks, who represents Perry Hall, said in a statement.
“We have profound overcrowding not only at Chapel Hill, Gunpowder, and Joppa View Elementary Schools, but schools as far west as Harford Hills and Oakleigh. That is the point I have been making with the recent Honeygo legislation.”

The budget proposal includes $2.8 million for design and engineering in 2016 and $45.6 million for construction of the school in the 2017 calendar year, according to Marks, who said a site has not been determined.
“I would like to thank County Executive Kamenetz and Councilman Marks for strongly supporting this new elementary school, something the Perry Hall Improvement Association has advocated to relieve current and future overcrowding,” Dennis Robinson, president of the Perry HallImprovement Association, said in a statement. “As we have seen recently, there is near-universal support for new schools in the Perry Hall area. Construction of an elementary school is an important step forward.”
