PERRY HALL, MD — A peaceful protest is planned in Perry Hall Friday night against police brutality. The organizer is a Perry Hall High School alumna who resurrected the school's Black Student Union during her time as a Gator. She's now a student at Morgan State University.

"I believe it was important to protest in my area," said Jocelyn Daniels, who also organized a demonstration June 13 in Towson with her peers. "We chose this location because it is important that protests are widespread and that they reach areas that may not be aware of all that is happening in the world right now."

Called "All Black Lives Matter Peaceful Protest Rally," the demonstration will be held in Honeygo Run Regional Park. There is no march planned, said Daniels, who has arranged for student speakers from Towson, Johns Hopkins and Morgan State universities to participate.

A candlelight vigil will end the evening, honoring those who lost their lives to police brutality.

The name for the event was "very intentional," she said, to make people think beyond their traditional conceptions.

"Although we are seeking to receiving justice for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor's killers have not been arrested over 100 days after her murder," she said.

Centering the event around honoring "All Black Lives" is a way to highlight inclusivity, as there are more people who are part of the conversation around police brutality whose names have not necessarily been at the forefront of the protest movement, according to Daniels.

"As we seek justice, it is important not to leave out women and members of the LGBTQIA+ community, which often happens," Daniels said. "All Black Lives Matter."

The All Black Lives Matter Peaceful Protest Rally will be at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 3, at Honeygo Run Regional Park, 9033 Honeygo Blvd., Perry Hall, MD 21128.
