Kingsville Stabbings: Police Say Man Charged In Stabbing Parents

A Kingsville couple was stabbed at home Friday night, and their adult son has been charged, police said.

KINGSVILLE, MD — A man is charged with attempted murder after stabbing his parents in Kingsville Friday, the Baltimore County Police Department said. Both victims were treated and released at a local hospital, according to authorities.

Michael Joseph Cottone, 27, of the 8000 block of Redstone Road, is being held without bail on assault and attempted murder charges.

Cottone is accused of stabbing his father, who had been asleep in a recliner, then stabbing his mother when she came into the room to find out what the noise was about, according to police.

Before 10 p.m. on Friday, officials said the father called police to report that he and his wife had been stabbed by their son. Cottone had left the scene, but authorites said they found and arrested him.

The victims were taken to a local hospital for treatment of stab wounds to the upper body. Police said both were released after receiving medical attention.

Cottone has been charged Saturday with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault and two counts of second-degree assault. He has been denied bail, court records show.

A preliminary hearing in Cottone's case in scheduled for Baltimore County District Court on Feb. 23.
