Man Dies Days After Baltimore County House Fire

A firefighter suffered minor injuries in the blaze, which broke out Monday in Halethorpe, officials said.

HALETHORPE, MD — A Baltimore County man who was hospitalized earlier this week following a fire at his Halethorpe home died on Friday, officials said.

The fire broke out around 9:30 p.m. on Monday at a home in the 1200 block of Vogt Avenue, according to the Baltimore County Fire Department. Crews arrived and found heavy fire on the second floor of the residence.

During search efforts, firefighters located an unconscious man and rescued him from the home. EMS crews treated the man and took him to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was hospitalized before his death.

On Friday, officials identified the man as Dennis Randle.

A woman who was inside the home escaped the fire through a window with assistance from neighbors. One firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, officials said.

Baltimore County Police Department fire investigators determined the fire was accidental due to improper use of a lighter.
