Maryland CASA Welcomes New Board Member

Maryland Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Association appoints new board member to Board of Directors

Baltimore, Md. (June 3, 2015) โ€“Maryland Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Association has appointed aย new members to its Board of Directors.

Jessica Schmidt-Bonifant, a resident of White Marsh, has been appointed to assist with CASAโ€™s fundraising endeavors. Schmidt-Bonifant is currently a Major Gifts Officer for the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and brings over ten years of experience to the organization.

As Acting Chief Officer, Schmidt-Bonifant has assisted in raising over $2 million for the University of Marylandโ€™s School of Dentistry. She has also aided the Vice President of the University in acquiring a $1.5 million gift for the organization.

โ€œI was motivated to serve on Maryland CASAโ€™s board because it gives me the opportunity to work in a field that I care deeply about,โ€ said Schmidt-Bonifant. โ€œI plan to do everything that I can to help better position Maryland CASA to achieve its mission.โ€

Schmidt-Bonifant is a graduate of the University of Louisville, a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and is currently pursuing her Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification.

โ€œWe are thrilled to welcome Jessica to the Maryland CASA board,โ€ said Ed Kilcullen, State Director. โ€œShe brings much-needed expertise, as well as new energy and ideas to the board.โ€

Maryland CASA Association is a private, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to ensuring the rights of all victims of child abuse and neglect to grow up in safe, permanent homes. This mission is carried out in partnership with the stateโ€™s 15 Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) programs, which provide trained volunteer advocates to speak up for the best interests of children.
