Methadone Clinic Not Slated For Silver Spring Complex: Marks

A methadone clinic is not a permitted use at the shopping center in Perry Hall, Councilman David Marks says, but something else is coming.

PERRY HALL, MD — Councilman David Marks says he has received numerous inquiries about a possible methadone clinic at the Silver Spring Shopping Center. The rumor that a clinic will go into the complex on Belair at Silver Spring roads, he said, is completely false.

"Based on all the research we have done, NO methadone clinic is going into this space," said Marks, who represents Perry Hall, in a recent statement.

The location would be ineligible from having such a clinic, he said, because it is within 750 feet of property zoned residential.

"Although I can't comment more specifically, I am very optimistic we will have a tenant announced soon for the Mars supermarket site," Marks said.

The Mars store, which used to anchor the Silver Spring Shopping Center, has been vacant since the grocer went out of business in 2016.
