Woman Responds To Neighbor Complaint Of 'Relentlessly Gay' Yard

After a neighbor complained about her rainbow decorations, Baltimore County resident is raising money to possibly paint rainbow roof.

A Baltimore County woman has raised thousands of dollars to add more colorful decorations to her yard after receiving an anonymous note telling her to ”tone it down.”

A picture was posted to Reddit Wednesday of the note, which says the following:

“Your yard is becoming relentlessly gay. Myself and others in the neighborhood ask that you tone it down. This is a Christian area and there are children. Keep it up and I will be forced to call the police on you. Your kind need to have respect for GOD.”

Julie Baker, 47, who has lived in her Overlea home for 20 years, told City Paper that while she identifies as bisexual, “The point of the rainbows isn’t about being gay. It’s because we love rainbows.”

In response to the note, the widowed mother of four created a GoFundMe page to buy more rainbow decorations and has raised more than $17,000 as of 11 a.m. Thursday.

“Needless to say...I need more rainbows...Many, many more rainbows…” Baker wrote on the GoFundMe page. “So, I am starting this fundraiser so I can work to make my home even more ’relentlessly gay.’ If we go high enough, I will see if I can get a rainbow roof!”
