Pedestrian Killed in White Marsh Boulevard Crash: Police

Baltimore County police say woman was crossing White Marsh Boulevard when she was fatally hit Thursday afternoon.

A woman hit by a car on White Marsh Boulevard Thursday afternoon has died, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

Maya Chhantyal, 62, of the 100 block of Hartack Court in Nottingham, was declared deceased at Franklin Square Hospital, police reported Thursday evening.

Police said that Chhantyal crossing White Marsh Boulevard in the area of Walther Boulevard when she was hit by a car shortly after 2 p.m.

The vehicle was headed east on White Marsh Boulevard from Interstate 695, police reported.

According to the report, the driver of the car stayed at the scene, where police were investigating the collision.

A pedestrian has been hit, and traffic is snarled on White Marsh Boulevard Thursday afternoon, according to officials.

At approximately 2:45 p.m., the Baltimore County Police Department reported that first responders were at the scene of a pedestrian-involved crash on White Marsh Boulevard/MD 43.

Specifically, police said drivers should steer clear of eastbound White Marsh Boulevard at Walther Boulevard.

According to state transportation officials, the I-695 off-ramp on the inner loop is closed, so drivers hoping to take the exit for White Marsh Boulevard/MD 43 will have to take an alternate route, such as US 1/Belair Road or the I-95 exit for MD 43.
