Pedestrian Killed In Route 40 Crash At Rossville Boulevard: BCPD

Police said that a pedestrian was killed Wednesday at a Route 40 intersection that does not have a crosswalk or signal for pedestrians.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — A pedestrian was killed in a crash with a van on US 40 on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Baltimore County Police Department. He walked in the path of the vehicle when he was hit, police reported.

George Galen Nelson, III, 44, of no fixed address, was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where officials said he was pronounced deceased after he arrived.

The crash occurred before 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, according to police.

Nelson was hit by a 2006 Ford E250 van that was going west on Pulaski Highway/Route 40 at Rossville Boulevard, officials said.

The driver remained at the scene, and the crash investigation is ongoing, police reported Thursday.

Authorities noted that there is no crosswalk or pedestrian signal at the intersection.
