Baltimore County gives timeframe for plowing after storm dumped more than 2 feet of snow on Perry Hall.

PERRY HALL, MD – Perry Hall received 26 inches of snow during the weekend blizzard, according to preliminary data from the National Weather Service.

State and county leaders are asking citizens to stay off the roads Sunday to allow plows to focus on their work.

“DPW expects to complete plowing of side streets NO EARLIER than 48 hours from now,” Baltimore County public safety officials reported at 4:15 p.m. Saturday.

“Because of the extremely difficult conditions and the need to rest our highway crews, it likely will take longer than 48 hours,” the report said. “We appreciate your patience as we deal with this historic storm.”

Sunday’s forecast calls for sunny skies with a high of 30 degrees in Perry Hall and a low of 14 degrees.

The Monday forecast is calling for mostly sunny skies, a high of 33 and low of 27 degrees.

Temperatures will climb above freezing Tuesday, with a high of 43 degrees, a chance of showers and low of 32.

Moderate to heavy snow will continue falling throughout Saturday and taper off Sunday morning in Baltimore County, according to the National Weather Service.

More than a foot of snow has fallen in Perry Hall so far.

Approximately 15.5 inches of snow accumulation was reported in northwest Perry Hall as of 7:30 a.m. Saturday, according to to unofficial snow totals from the National Weather Service.

Baltimore County is under a blizzard warning until 6 a.m. Sunday, as heavy snow and strong winds are expected to continue. There is also a high wind warning in effect until 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Winds may be 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

Citizens are advised to “anticipate power outages” with possible structural damage and downed trees. Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Calvert, Harford and St. Mary’s counties are under the high wind warning.

“Travel is impossible,” the National Weather Service said Saturday in a blizzard warning.

At least 40 percent of Baltimore County roads have had at least one pass with the plow, County Executive Kevin Kamenetz said on WBAL radio at 12:20 p.m. Saturday.

Kamenetz said MD 43 was ”not looking good,” while riding around the county with the public works director. He advised people to stay off the roads.

Highway crews do not anticipate having side roads cleared until after midnight, Baltimore County public safety officials reported Saturday.

Winds may complicate the cleanup, blowing snow all over the roadways.

Temperatures were in the high 20s in Perry Hall on Saturday.

The forecast for Sunday is for blowing snow then sunny with a high of 30 degrees in Perry Hall.

The Monday forecast is calling for mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid 30s.
