"We have a very good core of 'team first' guys but we will need to work very hard to become complete lacrosse players," Smoot said, anticipating work in practice to pay off by regional playoff time.
"Our goal is to contend for a regional championship spot, but nothing is going to come easy this season," Smoot said to the lacrosse alumni. "We will need to earn every win."

Players were quoted in the high school newspaper as stating they were looking forward to the season. In particular, they mentioned they were excited about "winning games," "warm spring weather," "getting fit" and "being with an amazing sports team," according to The Hallmark.
The boys varsity team will scrimmage at Reservoir High School on Thursday, March 14, at 5:30 p.m. The team's season opener is at Edgewood High School on Thursday, March 21, when the Gators will take on the Rams at 3:30 p.m.
