Perry Hall Boys Soccer Clinches 4A Regional Title

The Gators will contend in the state championship this weekend.

The Perry Hall boys soccer team won the regional championship Tuesday during a close matchup in Essex.

The Gators secured the 4A North title in overtime against the Howard Lions during the Maryland Public Secondary School Athletic Association‘s regional playoffs at CCBC Essex.

Perry Hall beat Howard High 1-0 in the second overtime, and freshman Juver Navarrete scored the game-winning goal, according to Kelly Eibner, whose husband, Pete Eibner, coaches the team.

It took 33 shots at the goal before the Gators were able to score, according to The Baltimore Sun, which pointed to rainy weather conditions, intense pressure and the Howard goalie’s brilliance as factors in keeping Perry Hall at bay.

With their win over the Lions, the Gators are now class 4A regional champions.

Next up, the Gators take on the Eleanor High School Raiders in the state semifinals at Richard Montgomery High School. Game time is at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14.
