Perry Hall Company Named Among Fastest Growing In America

A Perry Hall company made Inc. 5000's fastest-growing companies list.

PERRY HALL, MD — A company that started in Perry Hall has been named one of the fastest-growing, most-successful private businesses in the nation. Business magazine Inc. released its annual ranking for 2019, and one from Perry Hall earned a spot on the Inc. 5000 list.

Cybersecurity specialist Point3 Security, which focuses on commercial and federal workforce development, was ranked No. 467 on the list, growing 966 percent in the last year.

The company, which has a mailing address at 5004 Honeygo Center Drive in Perry Hall, was founded in 2014. Its revenue was $5.8 million in 2018, and it has 20 employees, according to Inc.

"We've doubled the size every year" and are "looking for a new home," Point3 Security CEO Evan Dornbush said in a YouTube interview with Cybrary, which offers online security training courses.

To make the Inc. 5000 list, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2015; be privately held, U.S.-based, for-profit and independent as of Dec. 31, 2018; and have minimum revenue of $100,000 in 2015 and $2 million in 2018.

Since its founding, Point3 Security has created its headquarters on Fort Avenue near McHenry Row in Baltimore's Locust Point area, Marketing Director Erika Johnson told Patch.

Point3 Security uses what she called a "gamified learning ecosystem" named ESCALATE that that provides "hands-on challenges" that will apply to real-world situations at work.

"Our gamified learning ecosystem provides organizations a way to confront some of their most pressing cyber problems," Dornbush said. "We are proud to be at the forefront of helping organizations defend against cyber-attacks."

The top company on the Inc. 5000 this year is a Phoenix-based online ad company that started in 2015.

The Inc. 5000 ranks America's fastest-growing, most-successful private businesses. Companies such as Microsoft, Dell, LinkedIn and many other well-known brands gained their first national exposure as honorees of the Inc. 5000.

"The companies on this year's Inc. 5000 have followed so many different paths to success," Inc. Editor-in-Chief James Ledbetter said in a statement this week with the release of the 2019 Inc 5000 list. "There's no single course you can follow or investment you can take that will guarantee this kind of spectacular growth. But what they have in common is persistence and seizing opportunities."
