Perry Hall Football Player Recovering from Touchdown Blow

The game against Overlea was cut short after knockout in the end zone.

A Perry Hall senior who suffered a concussion after catching a touchdown pass Friday is reportedly on the mend.

Wide receiver Nick DiPaula was knocked unconscious for approximately 20 seconds following a “nasty hit” in the end zone by an Overlea player, Perry Hall coach Keith Robinson told The Baltimore Sun; due to the brief knockout, the Overlea player was ejected from the game and DiPaula was taken by ambulance to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where he was treated and released, according to the newspaper, which reported he was “doing fine” on Saturday.

The game stopped near the end of the third quarter due to the injury, Perry Hall Gator Football said.

The Gators beat the visiting Overlea Falcons, 31-8, according to Perry Hall Gator Football.

As a result, the Gators remain undefeated, with a 4-0 record, according to Max Preps. The Falcons are 2-1.

Before returning to the field, DiPaula will have to be cleared by a certified medical professional, per Maryland State Department of Education guidelines.

Next up, the Gators play the Franklin High School Indians at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27.
