Perry Hall Gears Up for Back to School 2016
Backpack giveaways, immunization clinics are on tap before start of academic year at Baltimore County Public Schools.

PERRY HALL, MD — School starts for students in Baltimore County Public Schools this week, and several events are in store to help get kids ready.
Classes begin on Wednesday, Aug. 24, for Baltimore County public school students.
The State Superintendent of Schools Karen Salmon will visit Perry Hall Middle School and four other schools around the county — in Pikesville, Catonsville, Dundalk and Perry Hall — to usher in the new academic year. The visit at Perry Hall Middle School is set for 1:35 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 24.

Before the big day, the White Marsh Mall held a backpack giveaway on Saturday, Aug. 20. There was also a traffic safety conference at Perry Hall Elementary School to encourage drivers as school approaches to remember to slow down and stop for school buses. Children were reminded to look both ways before crossing streets. "...be involved, be there with your kids, talk to your kids about safety because it is our number-one priority," Perry Hall Elementary School Prinicpal Donna Bergin said.
Hosting backpack giveaways on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016, from 3 to 7 p.m. are the Randallstown Community Center, 3505 Resource Drive; Banneker Community Center, 27 Main Ave., Catonsville; and Sollers Point Multi-Purpose Center, 323 Sollers Point Road, Dundalk.

These health centers will offer school immunization walk-ins Aug. 22 to Sept. 23, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.:

Teachers went back to school on Wednesday, Aug. 17.
After school starts, there will be two holidays in the first month: On Monday, Sept. 5, classes are canceled for Labor Day; and on Monday, Sept. 12, school is out for professional development day.
