Perry Hall Crime: Burglars Take Jewelry, Copper

Perry Hall

  • Bennerton Drive, 4500 block. Between 6:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Feb. 1. A rear basement window was broken and an interior basement door was pried open, causing about $200 in damage. Twenty dollars in rolled pennies and a $20 bill were stolen.
  • Southfield Drive, 4200 block. Between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Jan. 30. A basement window was broken, causing about $50 in damage. A jewelry box, valued at $50, and a safe, valued at $45, were stolen from an upstairs bedroom.
  • Richlyn Drive and Forge Park Road. Overnight between Jan. 29 and Jan. 30. Items, including spare change and electronics, were stolen from several vehicles. Most of the vehicles had been left unlocked.

  • Perry Hills Court, 8100 block. Between 4 p.m. Jan. 27 and 5 a.m. Jan. 30. Copper piping, valued at about $20,000, and wire spools, valued at more than $6,000, were stolen from storage containers on a fenced-in lot where several contractors store materials for a . The fence was not damaged during the burglary, but a grinding tool was used to cut locks off of the storage bins.

"No suspect information is available on these burglaries, so we can't make a definite link between these and recent incidents," Balog said. "But similar property has been taken."

He echoed many of the crime prevention tips shared during a , where representatives of Towson area Citizens on Patrol groups explained how Parkville and Perry Hall neighborhoods can help combat crime.

"Keep your drapes open and look out for your neighbors," Balog said. "Call 911 immediately when you see anything suspicious."
