Perry Hall Leapling Turned 92, or 23
Is Anna Weiland Perry Hall's oldest local resident born on a leap day?

Tara Weiland-Ferretti celebrated her grandmother's birthday on Wednesday—her 23rd birthday.
Anna Weiland, a longtime Perry Hall resident, was born on Feb. 29, 1920. She's lived for 92 years, but, as a leapling, only has actual birthdays on leap years.
Weiland-Ferretti believes her grandmother may be Perry Hall's oldest leap day baby.

She stated in an email to Patch:
My grandmother's name is Anna Weiland. Her maiden name was DeSantis (not related to the restaurant). She was born on Feb. 29, 1920 which makes her 92. However, being born on a leap year she has only had 23 birthdays! She still acts like she is 23! We are trying to find out if she is the oldest "leapling" in the area.

She and my grandfather moved to Perry Hall in 1976. My grandfather passed away in 2001. She has three children, Jack Weiland Jr., Nicholas Weiland Sr. and Lucy Elder. Nicholas and Lucy still reside in Perry Hall. Of their six grandchildren, three still reside in Perry Hall: Jake Weiland III, Josh Weiland and me, Tara Weiland-Ferretti.
Because of her age, we moved her to Lighthouse Assisted Living in Essex last year, but she will never forget her years in Perry Hall. She still talks about how quiet it was before "the mall" was built and how when they first moved out here from Hamilton, people referred to Perry Hall as being "way out in the country."
