Perry Hall Library Turns 2 With Candy and Cupcake

The Perry Hall Library celebrated its second birthday Wednesday morning with Candy and Cupcake, a one-woman music and puppet show. 

About 200 parents and children crowded into the library's meeting room for the 10:30 a.m. event. Many, including Caleb Parron, were about the same age as the library.

"I like Cupcake," said Caleb.

His grandfather, Richard Parron of Middle River, said Caleb attends at least one library activity a week. "He loves books. These activities have helped enrich his life," Parron said.

Candy Draksler started the show with birthday songs.

Large crowds can be a challenge, Draksler said, but she anticipates a strong turnout when she performs at the Perry Hall Library. "The parents here are great. They love this library," she said.

Amy Forish, a stay-at-home mother of two, said she attends the library with her children about twice a week.

The new library has helped build connections in the Perry Hall community, Forish said: "It's a great place for them to meet other kids. I meet a lot of mothers too."
