Perry Hall Man Wins $100,000, Credits Wife: Maryland Lottery
A man credits his pregnant wife's cookie craving with their lottery win in Perry Hall.

PERRY HALL, MD — A Perry Hall man said his pregnant wife's cravings changed their lives.
"I was told to stop by the store and pick up some of her special cookies," the 30-year-old father of four told the Maryland Lottery. "I already knew which kind and where to get them because there is only one store where I know they are sold. That turned out to be a life-changing shopping trip."
He went to the Middle River Food Lion on his way home from work as a Baltimore auto mechanic to fulfill her request.

While at the store, he bought a Cash Club lottery ticket, seeing another person buying the scratch-off, which made its debut in November.
After he got home, he scratched the ticket as they ate the cookies and watched TV.

At first, he thought he won $10,000.
"When I realized I misread the number [and it was $100,000], I almost jumped off the couch!" he said. Not wanting to induce his wife, who is seven months pregnant, into early labor, he said he warned her to stay calm while he showed her the ticket.
His wife was "technically the winner because without her cravings, we wouldn’t be $100,000 richer!" he said.
The couple has four boys and a baby girl on the way, according to Maryland Lottery officials. They plan to use the money toward eliminating credit card debt, paying off their car loan and buying holiday gifts, according to the Maryland Lottery, which said the remainder of their winnings will go toward expenses from their baby girl.
