A Perry Hall man who works as a police officer in Harford County was reportedly honored for saving a woman's life on his way home from work.
PERRY HALL, MD — A Perry Hall man who is a member of the Havre de Grace Police Department was honored this week for saving a woman's life while he was on the way home from work. PFC Chad Smith noticed a crowd gathered around a car on the side of MD 43 on April 27 and pulled over, used the automated external defibrillator he kept in his patrol vehicle to help her and called for medical assistance, according to The Aegis. She had been in cardiac arrest and said she "wouldn't be here" if not for Smith, at a ceremony at Havre de Grace City Hall where the officer was presented a life-saving award.
