I remember the fire at the A&P. Mr. Woodrow "Woody" Burkhardt was the manager. (Formerly he was the manager at the A&P on Belair Rd in Gardenville where I first met him and his son, Bob, and my family did their grocery shopping.) Woody and his wife, Mary, retired and moved to Westminister Shores Retirement Community in St. Petersburg, FL.
Their son, the Rev. Dr. Robert Burkhardt and his wife, JoAnne, now reside in that same community. Bob and JoAnne are godparents to our son, Mark Owings.

My husband, Jack, and I and Mark moved to Perry Hall in 1964 and shopped at the A&P. We still live in Perry Hall and have seen many changes during these past 47 years. Mark also lives here in Perry Hall. Our daughter, Laurie Johnson, lives in Hamilton in the house that was originally owned by Rev. Elmer Kline of St. Michael Lutheran Church on Belair Rd.
