The miniature city will be open to visitors by appointment between Nov. 26 and Jan. 7.

Patch was invited to a special preview of a little known Perry Hall holiday attraction.

Tucked away in a residential neighborhood, Jim Lanahan and Donald Thompson have finished preparations for their —a highly animated train garden including figures, music and several types of moving vehicles.

Located in the basement of their home, the garden of more than 400 structures features everything from Perry Hall's welcome sign to Baltimore's famous Emerson Bromo-Seltzer Tower.

Admission to the garden is a donation of non-perishable food items that will be delivered to the . Donations from more than 300 attendees last year amounted to four carloads of food for those in need, Thompson said.

Visitors must call 410-529-1457 to make an appointment and for directions to the home at 6 Bellington Court in Perry Hall.

The garden will be open to visitors 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and 1 to 8 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays between Nov. 26 and Jan. 7.
