Following a Welcome by Ila Christenbury of the Greater Kingsville Civic Association, Opening
Ceremonies was held 11 a.m. at the judges viewing stand with Bruce McCubbin, Master of
Ceremonies presiding. Team APG Color Guard led the parade along with “The Helmet” and
two humvees of support personnel along with APG soldier of the Year, Sgt. Matthew Gansel
and Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year – Sgt. Olayiwola Kugblinu. Command Sergeant
Major Brian Sann, Senior Enlisted Advisor for the Maryland National Guard was the honored
guest and led the Pledge of Allegiance. The National Anthem was performed by Christina
Massimei and John Carroll H.S.Band with Mark Bouldon, Director.

The Maryland Air National Guard who has honored our community for many years with
a “Fly By” has been deployed to Afghanistan. A moment of silence was held during opening
ceremonies in recognition of their service and wish for their safe return. At 11:30 a.m. the
parade procession was paused for the honor of an Aircraft Fly By from the 177th Fighter Wing
of the New Jersey Air National Guard.
